...When we are able to break away through the average, when this dim half-light of the world in 

which we now exist is gradually caused to increase by the sunrise of the spirit,

 the individual experiences inner light...

...As this light grows, he knows his direction is right for him... 

...So, by degrees, he ascends into the light, and he finds that in emergency he is able to 

experience light around himself...

...As we gradually increase our inner wisdom, understanding, and enlightenment, we make the 

vertical journey toward the light...

...When we pass through from the outer acceptances of things into the inner meanings of things

 we have not made a quantitative journey, but a qualitative journey...

...We have gone through the torii gate--the gateway to infinities--by means of which we have 

passed from fear and misgiving about ourselves into an understanding of life which makes all 

things better and gives us courage to go on and achieve our own personal integration...
